Heather Jeweler

Heather Jeweler

Vice President, Raptor Rehabilitator

Growing up in rural Loudoun County, Virginia, near the Blue Ridge mountains, Heather developed an appreciation and passion for nature conservation at an early age, and dreamed of someday working with wildlife. Birds have always held particular interest for her, but especially birds of prey.

It wasn't until recently that life provided the opportunity for her to finally pursue that passion and so in late 2018 she quit her full time federal job to immerse herself in a wildlife rehabilitation apprenticeship, at Owl Moon Raptor Center in Boyds, MD, gaining hands-on experience, and preparing herself for life as an independent full-time raptor rehabilitator.

She has since completed her apprenticeship and earned her Master Wildlife Rehabilitation permit, specializing in raptors, from MD DNR.

She has completed a "Care and Management of Captive Raptors" workshop at The Raptor Center at University of Minnesota. She has also done volunteer work with The Raptor Conservancy of Virginia and Tri-State Bird Rescue & Research.

Heather is going to be our principal rehabilitator, once we have obtained the remaining necessary permits and are open for business.
